About the Programme

MBSI Student Chapter – Get Together is an academic and interactive programme bringing together MBSI leaders, faculty members, and microbiology students from colleges across the Malabar region. A major highlight is the inauguration of MBSI Student Chapters of six colleges, including Majlis Arts & Science College, strengthening student participation in academic, research, professional, and collaborative activities. The programme features interaction with Prof. Dr. Arvind M. Deshmukh, National President, MBSI, and Dr. Sinosh Skariyachan, State President, Kerala, MBSI, providing valuable insights into microbiology, research, careers, and professional development. Other highlights include the poster presentations “Bacillus subtillis: The Microbial pride of Our State” and “Buttermilk: From Traditional Drink to National Pride,” along with a Buttermilk Recipe Contest and Biocolour Special Tribute. Overall, the programme aims to inspire scientific excellence, leadership, creativity, collaboration, and active participation in the microbiology community.

About MBSI

The Microbiologists Society India (MBSI) was established in March 1996 and officially registered in November 1996 at Satara, Maharashtra, under Registration No. MAH/4814/SAT. Under the leadership of Dr. Arvind Madhavrao Deshmukh, former Professor and Head of the Department of Microbiology at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, MBSI is committed to the advancement of microbiology through education, research, and professional collaboration. Dr. Sinosh Skariyachan, Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology, St. Pius X College, Rajapuram, serves as the Kerala State President of MBSI, contributing to the society’s academic and organizational development at the state level.

The society aims to promote microbiology by organizing courses at various educational levels, strengthening collaborations between governmental and non-governmental institutions, providing guidance on microbiological matters of public interest, and supporting conferences, seminars, workshops, and research activities. MBSI also seeks to establish a comprehensive library of microbiological literature and mobilize financial resources to support and expand its initiatives. Membership of MBSI is open to students, faculty members, and individuals from any department who have an interest in life sciences. The society actively promotes collaboration with educational institutions to encourage academic and research activities

About the Host Institution

Majlis Arts & Science College (Autonomous), Puramannur, Malappuram, Kerala — affiliated with the University of Calicut and accredited with an 'A' Grade by NAAC — was established in 1995 and offers Kerala's first Integrated B.Ed. programme (ITEP) under NEP 2020.

Its Postgraduate Department of Microbiology, established in 2003, maintains modern laboratories and strong academic and industry collaborations. The department's MBSI Student Chapter, launched in 2024, drives student engagement through seminars, workshops, conferences, and outreach programmes.

Format: Portrait orientation, DIN A0 size (84 cm wide × 119 cm high).
Logos: MBSI logo upper-left, affiliated college/institution logo upper-right.
Institutional details: College, department, participant's name, class/course, and affiliation clearly stated.
Language: English only.
Originality: Original, creative, informative, and relevant to the theme.
Visual design: Creative layouts, diagrams, illustrations, and suitable colours encouraged.
Presentation: Participants must be present at their poster during the judging period to explain their work.
Evaluation: Judged on relevance, scientific understanding, creativity, originality, clarity, and visual impact.
Decision: The judges' decision is final.
